Experience

  • September 2023 - Present

    Jump Simulation Center

    Carle Illinois College of Medicine

    AI Software Developer Intern

Project: Spatial Computing for Medical Simulation Training in XR Devices

I focused on setting up the AI chatbot that assists in medical training simulations. Using Node.js and Express.js, I developed the backend and set up the API to support real-time interaction between the chatbot and trainees. The chatbot, powered by Natural Language Processing (NLP) and using the OpenAI GPT-4 model, provides guidance by answering medical questions during simulations. I worked on fine-tuning the chatbot's responses by connecting it to a medical database, ensuring that the responses were accurate and relevant to the medical procedures being simulated.

CS 124: Intro to Computer Science I

    University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

    Course Assistant (CA)

I help students navigate the fundamentals of computer science using Java and Kotlin. My focus is on guiding them through essential concepts such as loops, data structures, and algorithms, ensuring they can confidently solve problems and write efficient code. I provide hands-on support during labs and assignments, assisting with debugging and optimization. Additionally, I offer constructive feedback on projects and help prepare students for assessments, fostering a solid foundation in computer science and encouraging their passion for programming.

  • June 2024 - August 2024

Zhejiang Lvkang Medical Care Group Co., Ltd.

    Software Developer Intern

    Project: Elderly Care Mini Program

I spearheaded the development of the Elderly Care Mini Program, designed to revolutionize care management within senior care facilities. We used JavaScript, WeChat Mini Program, and Node.js to implement key features that supported real-time updates and data synchronization for caregivers. I also helped integrate MongoDB for efficient data handling. Together, we optimized the platform's performance, ensuring it was scalable, user-friendly, and capable of enhancing care management within senior facilities. This project significantly improved the operational efficiency of care teams and ensured better service delivery to elderly residents.

  • May 2024 - Present

    Social Computing System Lab

    University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

XR Software Developer - Stage 1

Focus: Unity Development for HoloLens 2

I contributed to the development of 3D environments in Unity for the HoloLens 2, designed to enhance studies conducted with PhD students. My work focused on creating interactive elements that improve collaboration and spatial awareness in Augmented Reality (AR) settings. I implemented these interactive elements using C# coding to ensure the system performed smoothly in real-time, providing an immersive experience for the users during the studies. I also collaborated with researchers to optimize performance, ensuring that the applications could handle complex interactions without latency.

    Research Assistant - Stage 2

Focus: LLM & XR Research and CHI Research Paper Development

I contributed to research exploring how Large Language Models (LLMs) can enhance interactions in Extended Reality (XR) environments. My role was to investigate how LLMs could make virtual environments more responsive and adaptive to users. This research led to co-authoring a paper for the CHI 2025 conference, where we presented our findings on how LLMs could improve engagement and learning in XR settings.

  • January 2024 - May 2024

    Social Computing System Lab

    University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

    Research Assistant (Machine Learning Developer)

    Focus: Object Detection with YOLO

I focused on implementing and fine-tuning YOLO for object detection in dynamic environments. My work involved developing custom YOLO models, optimized for specific datasets, to efficiently identify and classify objects. I was responsible for building real-time detection pipelines that enabled automated object classification and decision-making in various systems. This required extensive use of Python and PyTorch for deep learning, model training, and optimization. Throughout the project, I continuously refined the models by analyzing performance metrics, improving detection accuracy with each iteration.

  • November 2023 - January 2024

    MOONBOOW Studio

    Research Assistant (Software Developer)

Project: Mixed Reality Experience on Meta Quest 3 with GPT-3.5 Turbo Integration

I collaborated with PhD students to develop a mixed reality (MR) experience on Meta Quest 3, integrating GPT-3.5 Turbo for immersive, conversational user interactions. I helped design the backend with Node.js and Express.js for real-time communication and natural language processing. I also contributed to creating interactive 3D elements in Unity and managed a MongoDB database to optimize performance. This work led to a co-authored paper submitted to the CSCW 2025 conference.

  • August 2023 - October 2023

    Illini Fuel

    Nutrition Analyst Intern

Focus: Personalized Nutritional Assessments for UIUC NCAA Athletes

I provided tailored nutritional assessments to help NCAA athletes at UIUC optimize their dietary intake and performance. I assessed their nutritional needs based on performance metrics and developed individualized meal and hydration plans. Using Python and Pandas, I performed data analysis to fine-tune nutrition strategies for both performance and recovery. Additionally, I automated feedback collection from athletes to continually refine the nutrition plans, ensuring they met the evolving needs of the athletes. I worked closely with the coaching staff to ensure that dietary strategies were aligned with training schedules, helping to maximize athletic performance.
